Get a large piece of Styrofoam board for every four guests. Paint each board a different color, solid red or blue, for example. Now, use a bread knife to cut the boards into strange shaped pieces. For 4-5 year olds, three pieces is enough. 6-8 year olds can handle four or five, and from there on up, six or seven pieces should work.
Amusement parks offer plenty to do regardless of the time of year or weather conditions, which is a very nice perk. When planning kids birthday parties, you can not always be assured in advance what the weather conditions will be like that day. Nobody wants to get rained out if they are planning an outdoor party.
When kids get to a certain age, they start to get really concerned about what is cool and what is not. By the tween and teen years, this way of thinking is in full effect. As a parent, this makes planning any activities, such as kids birthday parties, extra difficult, as its not always easy to find a location that meets your childs cool criteria.
Whatever you do to celebrate your child is birthday, do not forget to photograph or film the great event, and to put aside a pristine sample of each party invitation, hat, napkin, etc., to save in a treasure box of childhood memories. Years later when your children have grown up and are planning birthday parties for their own children, echoes of Happy Birthday to You will still be ringing in their ears.
Why is it every year I have some expectation of what the day of my actual birthday will be like and for some reason, the day never lives up to my expectation? I am thankful that I gets gifts for my birthday and that I celebrate it. Some families do not even celebrate birthdays, and I am not in one of them. I am one of those people that actually likes to celebrate my birthday on the actual day. If you do not do this, then your actual birthday is just like any other day, and who wants that when you are supposed to be celebrating? When I go out to dinner for my birthday, I like it to be my actual birthday, not the closest weekend to my birthday. I want to open my presents on the exact day, not when it is convenient for everyone else to get around to giving me the present. I do not want to share this day with anyone else; I want it to be special. I know this may sound selfish, but, after all, is not that what this day that comes around only once a year is really all about. I really did not do anything to be born, it was all up to my parents, yet I am receiving gifts. If it is not about being selfish, then why do we give presents for birthdays to the birthday person and not the person who actually did the job on that day... his/her mom?
Amusement parks and all the attractions they offer such as go karts, mini golf, arcade games, laser tag, rock climbing, bumper boats and rides provide hours of fun that really appeals to the tween and teen market. The activities here are considered cool, lots of fun and definitely age appropriate when planning kids birthday parties. Its also not every day that you get to drive go karts or ride bumpers boats with your friends, so an amusement park setting is definitely a unique choice when it comes to birthday party places.
